Oxidation Resistance Coatings for Beverages
Oxidation in beverages results in loss of flavor and reduction in shelf-life for a wide range of products including beer, wine, and sake. This loss of flavor and reduction in shelf life translates into large monetary losses from recalled products and lost customers. Asemblon has filed a preliminary patent on a series of molecules that can be used in thin film coatings to protect beer and other beverages from oxidation by removing key oxidation promoters. Protection from oxidation translates into increased shelf life and decreased losses due to spoiled product. These coatings can be applied to bottles, kegs, and beer processing equipment (vats, fermentation tanks, etc). The Asemblon coatings can also be used as an aide in beer filtration to reduce levels of oxidation promoters before packaging. The Asemblon coatings could be integrated directly into a bottle or keg manufacturing facility or directly into a brewery. The Asemblon coating could also be used for applications with other beverages such as wine or sake.
