In several studies phenoxy undecanethiol was found to have one of the highest absorption propensities for proteins compared to other hydrophobic headgroups due to possible π-π interaction (Biophysical J. 2005, 88(2), 1322; Langmuir 2004, 20(18), 7779, J.
